FDP : Upskilling India – NEP 2020, Industry Linkages, and the Road to Self-Reliance

The Faculty of Commerce & Management, Vidhyadeep Campus, successfully organized a two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Upskilling India: NEP 2020, Industry Linkages, and the Road to Self-Reliance” on 19th & 20th June 2025. The event aimed to equip faculty members with the latest pedagogical approaches to prepare students for industry readiness and align with the vision of NEP 2020.


The FDP saw the active participation of over 150 academicians and industry delegates, with more than 170 participants registering in advance and an additional 10 registering on the spot. The overwhelming response reflected the growing interest among educators toward transforming higher education through innovation and collaboration.

The inaugural ceremony featured esteemed guests from academia, setting the tone for two days of insightful sessions.


 On June 19, Dr. Aarti Saini, Associate Professor, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing that education must go beyond instruction to foster agility, ethics, and accountability. She highlighted the integration of vocational training as a core part of holistic education and urged educators to become lifelong learners and proactive change-makers.


The second session by Dr. Shweta Shah, Associate Dean & Associate Professor, Electronics Engineering, SVNIT Surat, explored the importance of academia–industry collaboration. She discussed initiatives like SPARC, IMPRINT, UAY, and SETU that encourage innovation and outcome-based learning.


On June 20, Prof. (Dr.) Jayrajsinh D. Jadeja delivered an inspiring talk on aligning education with India’s vision of becoming Atmanirbhar Bharat. He highlighted NEP 2020 as a catalyst for technical skill development, innovation, and research through the National Research Foundation (NRF). His address also included economic insights on India’s growth, underscoring the link between education and economic progress.


Prof. Sonam Gandhi concluded the FDP with an insightful session on sustainability and green skills. She stressed embedding eco-consciousness in education and fostering an innovation-driven mindset to develop globally responsible citizens.


The event concluded with great enthusiasm, leaving participants inspired to implement the discussed strategies in their institutions. The Faculty of Commerce & Management coordinated the event efficiently, with dedicated efforts from committee members and volunteers ensuring smooth execution across both days.
